This gave me shivers...

"This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood" -Martin Luther King, Jr.

So today Sara and I exchanged Christmas presents after dinner at Chi Tung. Great times were had, and I received a sweet travel mug that talks and is mildly creepy. At the restaurant, I literally had a good six cups of tea, good times, and got the vegetable maki, which was delicious. Also, our waitress gave us a free box of tea, so I am super psyched about that (hey, maybe I can put it in my travel mug!). Also, my brother has NINE people staying overnight tonight. NINE. And I have to go pick up my sister and some of friends from the bar. Rad.

Anyway, I got this book of Banksy's art called Wall and Piece. It is seriously so amazing. In addition to his art, which is renagade, thought provoking, and generally kicks ass, he has so many interesting/insightful things to say. One thing that stuck with me was "A lot of people never use their initiative because nobody told them to," and that is hands down, the most honest thing I have heard in some time. I don't know that much about how the world works, but something I do know is that, no one's going to do it for you, whether "it" is writing a book, joining a band, making a friend, standing up for something, making history, or making a sandwich, you have to be willing and excited to do things for yourself. This is me telling you to use your initiative. This is me telling myself to use my initiative. So go out and make history, or just go and make yourself that sandwich, but do it on your own, on your own terms. Now enough of me running my mouth, enjoy some Banksy.

"If you are dirty, insignificant and unloved then rats are the ultimate role model." -Banksy

Please, enough with the shitty photoshops on Facebook.

It makes your already horrid photos WORSE. They are TACKY and UNAPPEALING and NO ONE actually likes them! So why do so many people feel the need to post them on Facebook? This type of fuckery should be relagated to the nightmare of glitter text and lame/non-age appropriate pop culture references* that is a thirteen year old girl's myspace page. So, please do yourself, and everyone else, a favor and next time you feel the need to participate in such horrible photo editing, don't. Look at funny pictures of cats like the rest of us.

Figaro, Figaro, Figaro.

So I've had this recurring dream where I hear "The Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini, and the source is always this man listening to it really loud on his ipod. I always remark about how I hear 'Barber' playing and then he says something along the lines of "How did you know it was the 'Barber of Seville?'" and that is more or less the entire dream. I'll have to have Geena ask Gabwhat this means, because Gab is excellent at dream interpretations.

My mom called me in sick for my last final because she didn't want me driving in this weather. Love it! It was just my final for my violin class, and considering I have a 100% in the class and finals are only worth 10% of my grade, I'm not to worried. Plus, I got a few extra hours of sleep and watched two episodes of House, and it's only 10am. Clearly today is going to be very productive.

Anyway, here is a song I've really been digging lately. It's a cover of Van Morrison's "I'll Be Your Lover Too" by Robert Pattinson. It's very raw and unrefined, but I love it. His voice cracks in the middle and he just laughs and at the end of the track he does this "oooo oooo" that goes on way more than it should, and you can tell it's just because he's being odd.

Maiden Voyage.

So I'm doing a little experiment to see if I can actually update a blog on a regular basis. The reason for this? Basically, I would like a record of the day to day happenings of my life, so that I have a detailed account of my life for reference.

Today I had my Theology, Orchestra, and Environmental Science exams, and they went pretty well. Theology was a bit rough, but overall pretty okay. I actually read the packet my Orchestra exam was on and made notecards on it and knew the majority of the questions, even though it probably won't even count as part of my grade. And Environmental Science was as expected, and Dr. Roz graded them before we got out of her exam and I got a 100% so that's pretty sweet.

But let's go back to my Orchestra exam for a moment, we listened to the cd from our Spring Concert last year, and it was seriously so good. It made my day, as did a good conversation with Mr. Rocco. He is seriously one of my favorite people, and hands down my favorite teacher I've ever had. Also, there was a definite revival of Eureka Street story time with Andi. Priceless.
